F. Zimmermann GmbH is headquartered in Neuhausen a.d.F., Germany, and is one of the world's leading suppliers of high-tech milling solutions. The machines have huge working areas, tremendous dynamic performance and enormous cutting capacity. Founded in 1933 by Friedrich Zimmermann, the company now has 200 employees, with subsidiaries in the USA and China. The innovative company has one primary goal for its range of products: being able to offer the right solution to its customers and so ensure high profitability: "Quality made in Germany". Its specialized machines are in use throughout the world in the aerospace and automotive industries and find many special applications.

Products and services

Together, the conventionally designed portal milling machines and the 5 and 6-axis gantry portal milling machines cover the entire range of machining capabilities. The gantry construction with side walls filled with special concrete, a stable clamping table and thermally optimized portal are unmistakable Zimmermann characteristics that guarantee optimum mechanical precision. All Zimmermann milling solutions can be equipped with a wide range of accessories.

Zimmermann's horizontal machining centers feature pioneering new developments and high-performance milling spindles. They make it possible to manufacture aerospace industry components from a wide range of different materials. The rigid machine bed of the innovative travelling column unit and the highly dynamic Zimmermann milling heads ensure an efficient milling process. The automation system, which is supplied as standard, and the newly developed pallet handling capability are integral components of the horizontal machining centers.

FZH400 HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTER

The FZH400 Horizontal Machining Center is Zimmermann’s most recent milling solution and bears the „made in Germany”quality label.

The core technology is a robust, water-cooled travelling column. With increasing depth of immersion into the material, the guide carriage distance grows and this leads to advanced rigidity. The stepped drive guide ensures a perfectly constant geometry along the Z axis. This in turn guarantees maximum rigidity in sensitive areas of the workpiece.

FZ37 5-AXIS PORTAL MILLING MACHINE

The FZ37 portal milling machine has a modular design which allows different operating ranges. The gantry construction with fixed side walls, a fixed clamping table and overhead portal that travels in the X-direction makes it possible to machine components of all kinds. Thanks to their combination of high stability and rigidity the machines are able to meet all the requirements of model making, tool and mold construction in the aerospace and automotive industries.

FZU 5-AXIS PORTAL MILLING MACHINE

The Zimmermann CNC-Portal Milling Machine FZU consists of 5 axes and an inherently rigid construction. The enclosed work space, the fixed machine table and the overhead moving portal in X-direction offer significant advantages in simultaneous 5-axis machining.

The combination of exceptional stability and rigidity, the steadily moved masses, and highly dynamic drives meet industry-specific requirements for pattern design, tool and mold design, design, Aerospace industry, Automotive industry etc.
